Brush with PRC’s Founding Fathers
I finally got back to transcribing more of my last chat with my dad for the book. Among the interesting nuggets was that when my grandfather moved from his hometown of Shilong to Guangzhou, his fame as a healer went with him and he was often sought out by government officials or foreign dignitaries who were in Guangzhou on business. Among some of those were a few people whom you would in a who’s who of the People’s Republic of China’s founding fathers:
Zhu De Founder of Chinese Red Army; commander-in-chief of PLA; vice chairman of communist party 1956-66; vice chairman of PRC 1954-59

Dong Biwu President of China 1948-49 (chairman of the Executive Committee); acting president of China 1968-75; VP of PRC, 1959-75

Chen Yi Foreign minister 1954-72, vice premier
